Civil servants’ pension fund ABP still pays out a supplement to the pension to which some participants were entitled, but which they have not yet received. ABP confirms this after reporting a TV program MAX Reporting point, which has been paying attention to this matter for some time.
It is a supplement to the pension for double earners. Couples who both worked before 1995 are entitled to such a supplement because ABP participants accrued too little pension when their partner also accrued a pension.
At the start of their retirement, people had to indicate that this was the case, but not everyone has. ABP now pays this retroactively to people who have recently submitted an application.
So far, some 22,000 new applications have been received by the pension fund. ABP has already assessed 14,000 of these. Of these, 6,000 are entitled to the supplement. The others either received it or do not qualify.
Relatively small amount
According to MAX Reporting point From now on people will receive an extra EUR 900 gross per year on average. Retirees are also paid at once the amount that they have lost between the time of their retirement and now.
ABP has reserved 100 million euros in total for this. Out of a total invested capital of 460 billion euros, this is a relatively small amount for the pension fund.
