It was coming. The numbers of coronavirus infections in the Netherlands are increasing so quickly that the Dutch government has chosen to take additional measures. Groups larger than 30 people are no longer allowed indoors from Wednesday 14 October at 10:00 PM. Unlike last time, no exceptions are made to this measure for theaters, stages and other cultural institutions. This means that all Dutch stages, theaters and other halls are no longer allowed to receive an audience larger than 30 people. The same also applies to festivals, of course. Only religious institutions (churches, mosques, temples) do not have to adhere to these new rules. In practice, it will mean that most stages and theaters have to close their doors. These measures apply in any case until Wednesday 28 October. After this, an evaluation will take place and the measures may be reversed.
Until this time, all catering establishments must also remain closed and shopping evenings are out of the question. A mouth mask is also mandatory in public life. Here you will find an overview of all new corona rules.
The reactions from festivals, theaters and stages are pouring in. The 013 announces that it will close until 11 November. The Left of the Dail festival, which should have been held in Rotterdam on October 16 and 17, is canceled.
