This is what the Netherlands thought of the summer of 2020

That summer of 2020 … how long it will be etched in our memories! Because of corona, the summer looked different for many than we envisioned at the beginning of this year. Traveling to faraway places was canceled, but instead we (re) discovered our own country or we went a little closer on holiday as soon as that was allowed again.

Willem Tates announces that he has been on an opera trip by plane to Dresden, Pisa and Prague this summer. It took some getting used to that he had to go to the operas wearing a mouth mask.

For Ed de Heij it was “a great summer”. He has been able to enjoy a lot in the garden and is currently even enjoying a wonderful holiday at the campsite in Italy.

Aafje van der Veen hopes that 2021 will look very different. “Not only the summer, but also the spring of 2020 has been completely ruined by corona,” she writes. Yet she has been out with the camper: in the spring on a campsite in her own country and in the summer she explored the west and south coast of France.

Gert Meijboom’s reaction sums up last season well: “A summer to remember.”

M. de Bruin: “This summer I continued to work. Vacation in your own country is nothing. Too busy with all those at home and expensive too. Next year we will go out by car. Then I know for sure that I will arrive at my destination. ”

Ed de Heij: “Unfortunately, many families have had a bad summer because of corona. Fortunately, we ourselves had little trouble with it. However, the tour that we would make to Sweden in the spring has been postponed. Hopefully we will make it next year. ”

Jitske de Vries: “The last period was intensive due to the recovery of corona and slowly starting work again. But I am happy that things are going in the right direction again. ”

Bert Verharen: “What a fantastic summer! I am 87 years old, but I went cycling every day. I love that. I am a real sun worshiper and I think it is such a beautiful summer every year in terms of weather. ”
