Unilever seems to be getting through the corona crisis well. The producer of Knorr, Magnum, Dove and Omo, among others, has seen sales increase in the third quarter. The impact of corona on catering and tourist destinations has been offset by more sales in the supermarket.
Ice creams and sauce in particular are now consumed more at home. Cleaning products and products such as shampoo and deodorant are also showing growth. Particularly in Asia and North and South America, Unilever is able to sell more. In Europe, turnover is lower than a year earlier because prices have fallen slightly.
Sales in the third quarter amounted to 12.9 billion euros.
‘Departure fine’
The much-discussed GroenLinks bill is also mentioned in the quarterly report. Unilever reiterates that the departure fine as it currently stands is in violation of European legislation and various tax treaties. Unilever also reiterates that it will call off the move if it is not in the interest of shareholders and other stakeholders.
It is not yet clear whether, and if so when, the ‘departure fine’ will be imposed. In the coming period it should become clear whether there is a majority in favor of the House of Representatives.
