Real Madrid lost 1-2 to Deportivo Alavés on Saturday, partly due to a blunder by goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois. City rivals Atlético Madrid came to a visit to Valencia to win in La Liga. In Serie A, Juventus dropped points for the fifth time this season. The reigning champion came to visit newly promoted Benevento no further than 1-1.
Things quickly went wrong for Real on Saturday in the small Estadio Alfredo Di Stéfano, the training complex of the Madrid people. After hands from Nacho, Alavés attacker Lucas Pérez opened the score from a penalty kick (0-1) in the fifth minute. Joselu doubled the lead shortly after the break after a blunder by Thibaut Courtois.
The Belgian keeper pushed the ball under pressure from the chasing Pérez into the feet of Joselu, who then found the empty goal (2-0). In the final phase, Casemiro did something back (1-2), but Real could not prevent the third defeat of the season.
With the defeat against, the problems continue for Real. The team of trainer Zinedine Zidane took only one point in the last three league games and is fourth in La Liga, six points behind leaders Real Sociedad and Atlético.

Former PSV player Lato schlemiel at Valencia
Atlético also seemed on the way to losing points on Saturday when visiting Valencia. In the 79th minute it became 0-1 by the own goal of Toni Lato, who unluckily scored a free kick at the far post.
The defender was hired by PSV from Valencia for six months last season. In Eindhoven he could not convince and he only played in the Europa League for one minute.
Luuk de Jong and Karim Rekik booked a late victory at SD Huesca with Sevilla. Youssef En-Nesyri scored the only goal of the match in the 83rd minute. Rekik and De Jong were at the kick-off and were taken from the field in the 64th and 76th minute respectively.

Ronaldo gets a rest at Juventus
In Serie A, Juventus, with Cristiano Ronaldo having a rest, took the lead at Benevento on Saturday after twenty minutes via a hit by Álvaro Morata. The Spaniard played himself free and pushed the ball into the far corner. Just before half time, Gaetano Letizia scored with a low shot for the 1-1 and that was also the final score.
Matthijs de Ligt took part in the entire match at Juventus, which drew for the fifth time this season in Serie A. ‘De Oude Dame’ remains fifth due to the draw against Benevento and is three points behind leader AC Milan.
Earlier in the day, Internazionale won the top match against Sassuolo 0-3. Stefan de Vrij completed the ninety minutes with the visitors and saw his teammate Alexis Sánchez open the score in Reggio Emilia after four minutes. Within fifteen minutes Inter even led 0-2 through an own goal from Sassuolo defender Vlad Chiriches. Roberto Gagliardini set the final score at 0-3 in the 60th minute.

Leader AC Milan can finish
With Inter’s victory, Sassuolo, which was second, remains on eighteen points and Milan, which has twenty points, can increase the lead on Sunday.
Inter is the new number two, thanks to a better goal difference than Sassuolo. Atalanta is disappointingly ninth, after losing 0-2 at home to Hellas Verona on Saturday. Miguel Veloso (penalty kick) and Mattia Zaccagni scored for the visitors.
AC Milan will play against Fiorentina without the injured Zlatan Ibrahimovic on Sunday and later that day the top clubs Napoli and AS Roma will face each other.
