Keeping a sink or toilet bowl clean is mainly a matter of keeping up. For example, did you know that fluorinated toothpaste residue can cause dull spots in the sink if you leave it on for too long?
You can prevent limescale deposits on shower tiles by drying them after showering with a window wiper or cloth. Light limescale can be removed with cleaning vinegar. You can tackle stubborn deposits with an abrasive. You cannot use strong descaling or abrasive agents with special water-repellent ceramics.
Fact: in well-ventilated and heated rooms limescale deposits are more likely to form in the toilet than in unheated rooms.
Brown deposits in the toilet drain? Throw in a denture cleaning tablet at night. The next morning it is white again.
If you can feel a gray stripe in the sink, it is a scratch in the ceramic surface. If you don’t feel anything, it is a metal stripe. These can arise from contact with a metal object such as a buckle or bracelet. You can polish these stripes off with some Staalfix on a cloth.
