The annual Liberation Festivals during Liberation Day on May 5 this year, just like last year, will not be held due to the corona virus. Nevertheless, this celebration must not be lost, because freedom cannot be taken for granted. The National Committee 4 & 5 May has therefore announced the Ambassadors of Freedom for 2021.
These are Davina Michelle, Jonna Fraser and Tino Martin. They will therefore not fly from festival to festival by helicopter as usual, but they will give online performances and play a connecting role.
In the run-up to May 5, these ambassadors will also look for what (in) freedom means to them. Tino and writer Natascha van Weezel will visit the former Auschwitz concentration camp in Poland, Davina calls on her followers to share stories about freedom and Jonna delves into his family history.
Details about the program have not yet been announced, but more than 200 performances and activities are expected via live streams.
Just like last year, the May 5 concert will be organized in the Royal Theater Carré and broadcast live on NPO1.
