PSV expects to be able to realize a capital injection of tens of millions of euros in the coming months, the Eindhoven club said on Friday. Billionaire Robert van der Wallen, who is also on the supervisory board of PSV, is the main initiator.
According to PSV, this concerns an external capital injection. “This will be done through a new mortgage on the stadium and an extension of the partner fund,” says a statement on the PSV website.
The club from Brabant is counting on an impulse of around 50 million euros. According to PSV, the money can be used for investments in the player selection and its own Philips Stadium, among other things.
PSV also let it be known that it does not relinquish control. “The management expects to strengthen the competitive position nationally and internationally through this choice.”
“Together with the management of PSV, we are investing a lot of time in monitoring and improving our position. It is now time for us to take the next step with PSV, creating the conditions for remaining a successful club in the future”, adds Van der Wallen in conversation with the Eindhovens Dagblad.
PSV is currently number two in the Eredivisie, trailing 11 points behind leader Ajax (and having played one more game). The Eindhoven team were eliminated early in the Europa League and the TOTO KNVB Cup.
