About 60,000 entrepreneurs have received a letter from the tax authorities with the urgent advice to request a deferment of payment for their taxes. Entrepreneurs who are unable to pay their taxes due to the corona crisis can request a postponement from the tax authorities.
Entrepreneurs have until June 30 to submit the application, but the Tax and Customs Administration is already sounding the alarm. “We want to warn in time that entrepreneurs must extend the payment deferment,” says a spokesperson for the tax authorities.
Only applicants on time can take advantage of the flexible 36-month repayment scheme for their current tax liability. And as a result, entrepreneurs only have to pay the tax to the tax authorities on time from 1 July.
Latecomers must pay immediately
“If you do not request a postponement before June 30, you must pay the tax due immediately”, the tax authorities said. The tax debt must then be paid before October 1. This applies, among other things, to payroll taxes, turnover tax and corporate tax.
Currently, 250,000 entrepreneurs have applied for tax deferment from the tax authorities for a total of 16 billion euros. The cabinet is expected to come up with the new corona support package this month. It will then also be known whether the tax deferment scheme will be adjusted.
