“Enjoy it as long as possible until we get new plans.”
“This Shetland Sheltie, originally a fishing boat, has been our fourth boat since April,” says Evert Bruinsma. “Our knowledge and wishes grew through experience. For example, the space in the back was very important for us to be able to be together. We turned out to get a lot of extras.
The first time boating with our family was four years ago, when my wife Kirsten was diagnosed with kidney cancer. Nothing was certain anymore. We were offered a boat trip through an organization that offers seriously ill people a day of relaxation. Then a spark has jumped.
“These are beautiful garlands!”
We enjoy day trips with friends or with our family. One of our fondest memories is that of a wonderful day trip to a raft in the middle of a large lake in Friesland.
There we were alone, surrounded by water, wide view, so much to see! Chairs, pillows and towels to lie on, the ice boat came by.
This boat also offers sleeping space and we are looking forward to staying for one or two nights back to basic to go. We don’t have to, don’t have to, pure enjoyment is what we need.
Life on the water is a completely different world. We still learn a lot about boating every day, there are many rules. You escape the world in which you live for a while. Sailing mainly taught us that you have to live in a way that makes you happy. You know: that story about hanging the garlands yourself. Well, these turn out to be beautiful garlands! ”
