North Sea Jazz is going into town once! Due to the corona measures, the NN North Sea Jazz festival has unfortunately been postponed for another year. But under the name NN North Sea Jazz Downtown, concerts will be organized on Friday 9, Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 July in four Rotterdam halls: Bird, De Doelen, LantarenVenster and RTM Stage, the new concert hall in Rotterdam Ahoy.
The concerts during NN North Sea Jazz Downtown are open to the public according to the then applicable rules and are simultaneously streamed for free via the North Sea Jazz website.
The program includes performances by Cécile McLorin Salvant/Sullivan Fortner Duo, Eric Vloeimans, Martin Fondse & Matangi Quartet, GAIDAA, Gino Cochise, Gonzalo Rubalcaba & Aymée Nuviola Band, José James & Metropole Orkest conducted by Miho Hazama, Michel Portal, Niels Broos X Jamie Peet, Richard Bona and Alfredo Rodríguez Trio, Rik van den Bergh Quartet, Tigran Hamasyan and the trio Montis, Goudsmit & Directie.
Festival director Jan Willem Luyken: “No festival for the second year in a row, it remains a bitter pill. Fortunately, recent developments give every reason for optimism. I am very pleased that this year, thanks to our partners, we can still present a program in which the public can again be present. This year we will visit a number of beautiful halls in Rotterdam. Next year we will greet everyone again at the festival in our familiar and renewed Ahoy”.
The full NN North Sea Jazz Downtown program, timetable and ticket sales information will be announced at a later date.
