It is a joy to spend a weekend in Rotterdam, the city that is always on the move. This time it’s a double celebration, because we’re staying in Le Marin. A new tasteful boutique hotel, with a nice terrace in front of the door.
Although we tend to settle there directly with the glass of bubbly on offer, we are happy to show you around.
Because the interior of Le Marin has a story. For example, the designer was inspired by the rawness of the port city.
She thought of sea bumps, the lines of tattoos, the maritime character. The rough-bolster-white-pit principle has been applied by working with opposites. When we enter our room, we see how: many soft and hard materials, rough and stylish elements are combined there.
It is just as much fun to jump on the hotel bike and traverse the bustling city. Not that we have to pedal far to get to the interesting sights.
The Kunsthal, the Nederlands Fotomuseum, the Maritime Museum are all within cycling distance.
This also appears to be the case with my favorite shopping street, the Pannekoekstraat. My company, with clearly different interests, is very happy with the unprecedented terrace offer. Because although the terrace of our hotel is really pleasant, we enjoy the nearby Witte de Withstraat in the entertainment area.
We do have dinner in the hotel and that turns out to be a good idea. Because the chef of Le Marin has a wonderful culinary evening in store for us, it is no punishment at all to save the nice tents in the area (especially within cycling distance) until a next visit.
Because there will be a next time for sure. In that case, too, Le Marin is again a good base to enjoy the port city.
Although we only stay for one night, it feels like a mini-vacation.
Inspiration for the interior was found in the rawness of the port city. Rough and soft materials alternate. Stylish dark interior.
The perfect base to discover the center of Rotterdam. The hotel is located in Middelland, one of the few neighborhoods that survived the war.
Very nice that the hotel offers bicycles.
The hotel is easily accessible by car; reserved places in the parking garage around the corner. Room rates from 90 euros, lemarinhotels.com.
