The European showcase festival and conference ESNS (Eurosonic Noorderslag) in Groningen will take place entirely online from 19 – 22 January 2022. The organization decides to do this after the last announcement of the corona measures from the government.
The organization says that the current measures do not allow all booked European acts and music professionals to be brought to the Netherlands and it is therefore no longer possible to assume a physical edition.
In 2021 the festival also took place digitally. The organization is building on the successful and well-received digital edition of that year.
Director Dago Houben does not give up: “ESNS is of great importance to the entire music industry and especially to Dutch and European musicians. It is therefore essential to carry out our function of providing a platform for European pop music that our event takes place online. We saw earlier this year that the reach of a digital edition can be huge and that way we can make a difference to an artist’s career. We are therefore pleased to be able to present all artists booked for ESNS again this year with the help of our media partners on the best possible platform imaginable – under these circumstances.”
ESNS wants to offer as many booked ESNS acts as possible a stage on the freely accessible showcase platform, in collaboration with NPO 3FM.
Tickets for the ESNS digital conference cost €99. They are available via the festival’s website.
In addition to the conference, the digital version of ESNS 2022 includes the programs of Noorderslag, Eurosonic, but also the award ceremony of the Music Moves Europe Awards, the presentation of the Pop Prize, Pop Stipendium, Pop Media Prize and the Iron Podium Animals.
More than 200 artists have already been announced for the upcoming edition of ESNS. You will find a complete overview on our ESNS 2022 page.
