Manchester City defender Kyle Walker no longer has to fear prosecution for showing his genitals to women in a pub. The case has recently been the subject of discussion in the English football world.
At the beginning of this month, images circulated on social media of 32-year-old Walker, who showed his genitals several times in a drunken state. He was also seen grabbing a woman from behind.
A police investigation followed, which was concluded on Friday. The police said in a statement that the case was “handled out of court”. “That is done with petty crime and antisocial behavior, where the perpetrator has admitted the crime.”
In recent days, both Manchester City coach Josep Guardiola and England national coach Gareth Southgate have stood up for Walker. “I talked to him. Some things happen,” said Guardiola. “In personal matters, everyone can count on my support.”
Southgate simply included the 73-time international in England’s selection on Thursday. “There was no decisive reason not to select him. This feels like the right decision,” said the national coach. The police investigation was therefore not yet completed.
Walker has been under contract with Manchester City since 2017, where he is usually a basic player. He is also often part of the starting eleven in the English team, with which the defender was active at the World Cup in Qatar.
