Experienced traveler Chelsea Dickenson shares her trick on social media to get a long line on the plane for her and her fellow traveler. Perhaps best of all, you don’t even have to shell out extra money for it.
Curious about Dickenson’s first travel hack? He’s coming: As soon as Dickenson buys the plane tickets, she books one window seat and one aisle seat in the same row. According to the British, there is a very good chance that someone traveling alone will not book that middle seat and would rather sit in a different row.
Dickenson says he has done this trick about ten times. “With a 60% success rate,” she admits. “The times it failed was because the flight was unfortunately fully booked. In that case it is impossible to keep a seat free.”
Many airlines don’t have row 13 on their planes, but if there is one on your flight (and you’re not superstitious), Dickenson recommends reserving seats in that row. “A lot of people don’t want to sit there because they’re afraid it will bring bad luck,” she reasons.
