Snoozing is a way of waking up with an alarm clock with the aim of not getting up immediately. So you give yourself the chance to sleep in a bit, but with an alarm clock.
Many people go to sleep late at night, with the result that they cannot wake up properly in the morning. When the alarm goes off, it is of course tempting to press the snooze button one or more times so that you are always woken up after ten to fifteen minutes.
But sleep quality does not improve if you are woken up every ten or fifteen minutes. On the contrary. In the early morning you no longer sleep deeply, so you do not rest extra. So you won’t wake up fitter and more rested from snoozing.
Incidentally, sleeping late does not help if you go to bed too late. The same is true if you have drunk too much alcohol. Then the sleep quality is less good and you are not rested the next day. Snoozing does not help against that either.
It is best to rest from deep sleep, which is mainly at the beginning of the night. It is therefore best to get up immediately when the alarm clock rings and then try to wake up with (natural) light.
If you are tired, go to bed early the next evening. If you regularly go to bed on time, but cannot sleep until late and you are not getting a good rest, it might be an idea to have a checkup for a chronobiological clock disorder.
